QUICK LOOK: Akai Fire Controller for FL Studio
Share

FL Studio is one of the most popular DAWs in the game and is used by super producers like Boi-1da, Hit-Boy, and Afrojack. But though it’s been around for two decades, the software was only available to Windows users and didn’t have a dedicated controller and until 2018.

Last Spring, FL Studio’s developer Image-Line reached a huge milestone when it made the software compatible to Mac users with the release of FL Studio 20. Capitalizing on their momentum, the Belgium-based company teamed with manufacturer Akai Professional in the fall to introduce the first dedicated hardware controller for FL Studio, the Akai Fire.

FL Studio users have yearned for a high-performance controller like the Fire. It can be used as a browser, step sequencer, drum machine, keyboard, or as a live performance device. The Fire makes it easy for producers to speed up their workflow and get hands-on with their work. Best of all, it has an affordable price of $199 and comes with FL Studio Fruity Fire Edition.

On this episode of “Quick Look” presented by I DJ NOW, Raj Thomas examines the Akai Fire and checks out some of its features. He then shares his overall impression of the controller.
