Technics SL-1200GR Turntable Can Now Be Yours
Share

Back in January, Technics announced the SL-1200GR, a direct-drive turntable that is a take on the classic 1200 turntable and a more affordable version of the previously released SL-1200G. The wait is now over to get your hands on the SL-1200GR for a price of around $1,699.

The “lower-end” SL-1200GR model inherits much of the same technology as its predecessor, the SL-1200G. The price difference between the two is significant, as the SL-1200G was originally retailing for around $4,000. With a low-vibration, high-rigidity platter and high-sensitivity tonearm, the SL-1200GR was undoubtedly designed to outperform its competition in the marketplace.

The Technics 1200 series are a DJ and audiophile staple and have arguably been the gold standard in turntables since the first release back in 1972. We agree with Technics that this less expensive price tag may encourage sales and allow more audio enthusiasts to enjoy the robust sound of analog records.

What are your thoughts on this turntable, and would you shell out the money to own one?
