Denon DJ Upgrades Engine Prime and Adds Compatibility for MCX8000

Today, Denon DJ released a major update to their Engine Prime music management software and announced Engine Prime compatibility for the MCX8000 controller. New features of Engine Prime v1.2.1, SC5000/M Firmware v1.2.1, and MCX8000 v2.0 include support for Engine Prime-prepared USB drives, beatgrid/sync enhancements, BPM sorting, bug fixes and more.

Engine Prime 1.2.1

In Engine Prime v1.2.1, you’ll see updates like an enhanced music library and improved track import features. Additionally, the Prime Series SC5000 and SC5000M media players can now be firmware-updated via a USB drive, without the direct use of a computer.

Key features include:

  • MCX8000 Database Export support
  • Playlists can now be rearranged
  • Drag iTunes, Traktor and Serato parent crates/folders to Collection
  • Faster iTunes and Serato library import
  • Album/Song Artwork management faster and optimized
  • Enhanced Loop control for quicker navigation through tracks
  • Increased scratch-able/playable empty space before track start on SC5000/5000M

MCX8000 2.0

Denon DJ also added Engine Prime software compatibility for the MCX8000 controller. The update enables this standalone DJ player and controller to use Engine Prime’s music libraries via USB drives. Plus, new performance and hardware improvements have been added to the MCX8000 in v2.0 firmware.

New features include:

  • Support for Engine Prime prepared USB drives
  • Mic 1 & 2 Attenuation controls added
  • Fine tune of Mic ‘talk-over’ adjustments
  • Change USB recording level
  • Beat Grid support for Engine Prime prepared USB drives
  • Quantize feature and Beat Sync/Division options added
  • Song BPM sorting feature

Engine Prime v1.2.1, SC5000/M Firmware v1.2.1, and MCX8000 v2.0 are all available now as a free download. In addition to the compatibility with Denon DJ’s SC5000/5000M media player and MCX8000 controller, Engine Prime software v1.2.1 is also compatible with the X1800 4-channel DJ Club Mixer.
