Spotify Reportedly Files to Go Public

On Wednesday, news broke that Spotify, valued at about $15 billion, has filed to go public on the New York Stock Exchange. As a direct listing, stakeholders would be able to trade their shares on a public exchange – a technique used more often by small issuers and real estate investment trusts. While not without risk, if Spotify’s move to go public is successful, it could change the way other tech companies list their shares. Read more here and stay tuned to our blog for updates.

Latin Music Will Continue its Takeover

In 2017, Latin music dominated the charts and we couldn’t get “Despacito” out of our heads no matter how hard we tried. 2018 is looking to continue on this path, with huge acts like Shakira going on tour and Jennifer Lopez releasing a Spanish language album produced by ex-huband, Marc Anthony. You can also expect to see new music from Maluma, Enrique Iglesias, Bad Bunny, Wisin & Yandel, Daddy Yankee and J Balvin.

Superstar Collaborations

We started the week with a teaser of Justin Timberlake’s new album, Man of the Woods, due out February 2. It shows shots of him in the studio with Pharrell, and the album boasts collaborations with the Neptunes, Timbaland, Alicia Keys, and Chris Stapleton. Check out the official video of the first single off Timberlake’s fifth solo album, “Filthy”, released today.

Last but not least, Bruno Mars and Cardi B debuted a serious ‘90’s throwback remix of “Finesse,” off of Mars’ 2016 album 24K Magic. Released at midnight on Wednesday, they nearly broke the internet with this “In Living Color” tribute. We think this song will definitely dominate the clubs this weekend! Who would you like to see link up in 2018?
