Earlier this month, BPM Supreme held a listening session for electronic music DJs/producers, GTA’s new Latin-inspired EP, La Nueva Clásica. At the packed event, GTA members, Julio Mejia and Matt Toth shared some of the influences behind the project and explained more about their musical motto: death to genres.
Growing up in Miami, the guys of GTA were exposed to urban, electronic rock and Latin music in equal measure. Because of this, they’ve adopted a production style that blends together house, electro, hip-hop, trap, and Latin sounds.
GTA’s mission to break out from genre limitations is especially evident in their first single off of the EP, “Buscando,” featuring Jenn Morel. The track has both hard-hitting bass with booty-shaking urban Latin beats and instrumentals.
Thank you to GTA for such an incredible listening session. La Nueva Clásica is available now. Download tracks on BPM Supreme.
