Buckle up, because we’re diving into the world of Lucca Savi, a rising artist on White Label who blends his Brazilian roots with a passion for diverse sounds. From his love for baile funk to the inspiration he draws from hip hop legends, Savi is all about creating infectious music that breaks down borders. Get to know more about the exciting projects he has brewing in our interview below.

Where do you call home?

Home for me is definitely Miami. Yeah, I’m originally from Brazil, but there’s just something about Miami that’s got me hooked. It’s like this whole big blend of cultures, you know? I get to soak up all kinds of vibes and hang with my Brazilian crew, which makes me feel right at home. It’s like having a taste of Brazil while diving into a whole new world at the same time.

How do you describe your musical style?

I’d say my musical style is pretty versatile. I love delving into different cultures and weaving them together to create something fresh and global that gets everyone grooving. Music, to me, knows no boundaries. One thing that sets me apart is my love for Brazilian baile funk. It’s this whole new vibe that I’m passionate about sharing with the world, not just to represent my culture but also to introduce people to that Brazilian flair. I’m all about embracing urban and EDM influences too, blending them into the mix for a sound that’s truly eclectic and infectious.

What first inspired you to get into music?

Man, it was definitely the hip hop culture that lit the spark for me. Back in 2007, I dove headfirst into DJing and tinkering with music production, whipping up beats and remixes. Everything about hip hop just spoke to me – from DJing to breakdancing and even the graffiti scene, it was like stepping into a whole new world of creativity. What’s wild is how the baile funk culture in Brazil kicked off in much the same way as hip hop and reggaeton. So naturally, I was drawn to that too. I looked up to the OGs like Jam Master Jay and Grand Master Flash, soaking in their techniques, and then vibed with the newer cats like David Guetta and DJ Khaled as I kept on my journey. It’s been one heck of a ride, man.

Is there an artist or person who has inspired you most?

Without a doubt, Anitta from Brazil has been a massive inspiration for me. Sure, she’s not a DJ, but what she’s done for Brazilian music on the global stage is nothing short of revolutionary. She took it upon herself to smash through barriers, representing our culture and collaborating with artists from all corners of the globe. It’s incredibly inspiring to see her journey from local sensation to a bona fide global icon. She’s shown me that it’s possible to make waves internationally while staying true to your roots. I’m definitely taking notes and aiming to follow in her footsteps as a DJ, performer, and producer.

What’s your favorite piece of music production gear or software?

Oh, hands down, my favorite piece of music production gear has to be the AKAI MPC LIVE. It’s a beast for live production, with its killer sampling capabilities and the freedom to cook up beats on the fly. But what’s really cool is how versatile it is – I can take it into the studio and craft tracks from scratch with ease. And when it comes to software, I’m all about that Ableton Live life. It’s just so intuitive and packed with features that let me bring my ideas to life seamlessly.

What’s your favorite part of the music production process?

Absolutely, my favorite part of the music production process has to be laying down the foundation – the drums, percussion, and bass. Brazil’s rich tradition of percussion and infectious grooves has had a huge influence on me, so diving into those elements is always a blast. To me, the drums and bass are like the heartbeat and soul of a track. They set the vibe and drive the energy, laying down a solid foundation for everything else to build upon. It’s where the magic begins.

Any future projects coming we should know about?

Absolutely! Just dropped my latest track, “SUAVE,” and it’s all about showcasing my original sound to the world. Got a bunch of exciting collaborations with artists from across the globe in the pipeline, and you can bet they’re all infused with that signature Brazilian flavor. Plus, keep an eye out for upcoming festival appearances and tours – I’ll be taking my music beyond the US borders and back to where it all began, Brazil. It’s gonna be a wild ride.
