A-Trak’s 2nd Annual Goldie Awards DJ & Beat Battle Competition went down last night in Brooklyn, New York. If you were lucky enough to catch the live streamed event, you witnessed some serious talent. Congratulations to DJ Battle winner, DJ Yuto, and Beat Battle winner, our good friend Buck Rodgers. Also special shout out to both Brandan Duke The DJ and Mctematico coming in second.
DJ Battle finalists, Brandan Duke The DJ, DJ Erick Jay, IFTW, Javin, K-Swizz, Matsu, YB, and Yuto each flexed their performance skills in five-minute sets. Beat Battle finalists, Baseck, Buck Rodgers, Goldenchild, HOLLY, Lisa Vazquez, Mawik, Mctematico, Nick Hook, and Tapecut all performed two beats, timed at one minute each.
Judges included a list of legendary DJs and producers, including Mark Ronson, Just Blaze, Craze, Murda Beatz, El-P, Anna Lunoe, Boys Noize, and Venus X. Desus Nice and Nadeska Alexis hosted the event.
As the winner of the DJ Battle, Yuto will have the amazing opportunity to perform at Fool’s Gold Day Off. As Beat Battle winner, Buck Rodgers will have an original track released on the Fool’s Gold record label.
