Found on White Label: Steve Andreas Brings Latin/Caribbean Heat
Share

Drummer by 8, producer by 16, Steve Andreas traded rock for electronic beats inspired by Dutch DJ giants and production legends like Timbaland. Now this rising star is creating tracks across Caribbean, Latin, and Zouk/Kompa genres and infusing them with catchy hooks and grooves that make you dance, all with a distinctive Latin/Caribbean flair.

“I would describe my style as a vibrant blend of Afro/Latin influences layered over groovy beats, featuring catchy melodies and hooks. My music spans from energetic club and dance floor tracks to more relaxed, chill listening vibes,” he explained.

Read on to see why Andreas’ music is trending on White Label.

Tell us about your artist name and how you got it.

I chose my DJ/producer name “Steve Andreas” as a reflection of my identity and artistic expression. My real first name is Stefan but in the U.S., I’m often called Steve. And my second name is “Andreas.”  So by incorporating both names, I stay true to myself and infuse my music with a genuine sense of who I am.

Where do you call home?

It’s a great question because I essentially split my time between three incredible places throughout the year. I was born on the beautiful island of Aruba, which remains close to my heart. I also spend significant time in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Miami, each of which has become a second home to me.

How do you describe your musical style?

It’s quite broad and eclectic. As a music producer, I’ve crafted successful tracks for artists across Caribbean, Latin, and Zouk/Kompa genres, always infusing them with catchy hooks and grooves that make you dance, all with a distinctive Latin/Caribbean flair. My deep love for electronic music shapes my work as a DJ/producer under the name Steve Andreas. I would describe my style as a vibrant blend of Afro/Latin influences layered over groovy beats, featuring catchy melodies and hooks. My music spans from energetic club and dance floor tracks to more relaxed, chill listening vibes.

What first inspired you to get into music?

My journey began at the age of 8 when I discovered my passion for playing the drums. I started as a rock drummer in bands and, by 16, ventured into music production to compose and create music for those bands. This was the starting point of my production career, which has been a long and diverse journey. I eventually fell in love with electronic music, inspired by Dutch DJs I admired who were creating and performing worldwide. Many of these DJs hailed from the same place I was living, which made me think, “I really want to do that!”

Is there an artist or person who has inspired you most?

The music producer who had the greatest impact on my decision to pursue becoming a music producer was Timbaland. Later on, DJ/producers like Afrojack, Martin Garrix, and Chuckie inspired me to delve into the world of electronic music.

What’s your favorite piece of music production gear or software?

My favorite gear is simply a MIDI Keyboard with 61 keys. I use it for almost everything, as I prefer recording over drawing notes in the piano roll. When it comes to software, Ableton Live is my all-time favorite—it’s simply the best!

What’s your favorite part of the music production process?

My favorite part is the initial creative flow, when you start with an idea and the music begins to take shape almost automatically. During this phase, I record and structure the main ideas simultaneously, letting the inspiration guide the process. This spontaneous and dynamic phase is what I love most about music production.

Any future projects coming we should know about?

Absolutely! I have two original tracks set for release in June. One is a melodic, chill Afro house tune featuring vocals in Papiamento, the language spoken in Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire. The other track, titled “Perrito,” is a collaboration with artists from the Dominican Republic and Miami. It’s an Afro tech track designed for the dance floor. I’m thrilled to share these with you!

Additionally, I just released an Afro House remix, which you can find on my profile on BPM Supreme’s White Label. Aside from original tracks, I plan to release the second episode of my DJ mix after successfully reaching 100k+ views on YouTube on the first edition.
