We recently caught up with Amber Donoso, an independent artist who hit number one on White Label’s trending downloads with her latest release, “Culeteo.” As an artist, Donoso is determined to create a fresh, exciting sound and forge a bold new path while staying true to the Latin background that inspires and defines her.

Where do you call home?

Miami but I’m originally half English, half Chilean. I’ve been based out of Miami for the past 10 months. 

How do you describe your musical style?

A mixture between Reggaeton and British R&B.

What first inspired you to get into music?

I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old. I always loved performing and loved entertaining people. I used to watch artists like Shakira and Gwen Stefani and think to myself, “I would love to be like them.” I started singing and songwriting soon after learning the guitar, and that was the start of an incredible journey of building my music career. I started as an acoustic artist, then worked in R&B within the London market for six years, and then converted to Latin recently.

Is there an artist or person who has inspired you most?

There are so many incredible artists who have inspired me. From Gwen Stefani to Hector El Father. What I listen to is very eclectic and each of my favorite artists has inspired that. The 1975 also inspired me massively and my music is completely different from theirs!

What’s your favorite piece of music production gear or software?

I have the most incredible microphone that was gifted to me by SE Electronics. It’s a V7 chrome with my name engraved on it. That microphone makes the most incredible sound while performing live. 

What’s your favorite part of the music production process?

I love going into a studio session with nothing and leaving with a full complete song that we created. It’s like making magic. I absolutely love music, so this process brings me a huge amount of joy and lights my heart up.

Any future projects coming we should know about?

I recently released my latest single “Culeteo” which actually went to number one on BPM’s White Label downloads. I was so excited and grateful for that! My next single comes out in one month! I’m so excited to put this track out as it’s one of my favorites I’ve ever written! I hope people love it as much as I do!!!
