A rising star in the electronic music scene, OKAYVAL is bringing crowds to their feet with the energy of her original tracks like “Rolling” and “You Make Me.” Inspired by artists like Martin Garrix and Dom Dolla, she releases her latest single this Friday, “Disco,” which perfectly illustrates her evolving sound, blending groovy tech house with a touch of nostalgia.

Ultimately, the name is one I felt was simple and easy to remember, still kept a piece of my real name and the authentic connection with my fans that came with that, and also has the sort of warm welcome I want to give off in all my interactions with fans and with the project.
I’m currently based out of Jacksonville, Florida but I was born and raised most of my life in Cali, Colombia. The States have now become a place which I live and love, but Colombia will always share a place as home in my heart. I’d love to be able to bring my music to a large stage there one day.
The most simple way I can describe my production style is the big room inspirations of early Martin Garrix, blended with the modern-day tech house influences of Mau P and Dom Dolla. I want people to be launched on their feet with the energy my music gives the crowd. Hardwell is a huge inspiration as well for my playing style specifically in my live sets, with the energy he brings into every song.
Growing up listening to house music and EDM from a young age, it was always just something that I grew to love and appreciate. At a certain age, I decided I wanted to be a part of this musical world that just always captivated me, wondering how great it must feel for the David Guetta and Aviciis of the world to see a song from start to creation. Then I opened up Logic Pro one day and I just instantly fell in love with the creative process.
Starting off early in my career, when I really began making music back in 2014, Martin Garrix was a huge inspiration to me, with songs like “Virus” and “Animals” playing a huge role in my early production and still having an influence today. However, as I officially started the project just over a year ago and ever since, Dom Dolla has been a huge industry influence for me, drawing tech house inspiration into my work. Now, it’s kind of blended into the style I have today with big room and tech house both mixing and mashing into my own unique style.
I’m firmly on Team Logic Pro til the day I die. Something about that software and a good old-fashioned piano just can’t be replaced.
My favorite part of the music production process is constantly pushing myself to find new, exciting ways to reinvent my sound.
You can expect to really get a preview of the new exciting direction of the project overall. My melodic tunes have always had a special place in my heart, but with “Disco,” I really just fully leaned into the gritty, groovy tech house side of my musical inspiration and had a ton of fun with it. It’s the Ibiza vibes for those tropical holiday parties.
A bunch of different tracks lined up I’m definitely super excited for. Especially one I’ve been working on close to the start of the project, with it now being at a place to where it’s been perfected and I’m super proud of. As for tour dates, working on getting a headline show going here soon. Be sure to stay tuned for that.
Got a few different collaborations I’ve been working on recently I’m super excited for. But still working on finding the right timing for us to unveil those. Stay tuned!
