Where do you call home?

New York City.

What is the significance of your artist name?

My stage name is “XCITI.” I have a passion for visiting new cities, but I can’t pick just one as my top choice. So I use “X” as a variable in my stage name.

How do you describe your musical style?

My musical style is tech house, a subgenre of house music. It features a steady four-on-the-floor beat, groovy basslines, and an emphasis on percussive elements and synth textures. The sound is often hypnotic and designed to keep the energy flowing on the dance floor.

What first inspired you to get into music?

Growing up, my home was always filled with a diverse array of music. Lots of hip hop, house music, and Latin music played throughout my house. I noticed that music made people happy and energetic.

Then one day, I went over to a family friend’s house where there was a guy a couple of years older than me who was a DJ. He showed me all the big EDM festivals and told me that DJs are traveling the world doing this as their career. At that moment, when I saw those videos, there was this spark that made me think, “Wow, this is awesome.” I started to enjoy the EDM world more. I began doing more research and taking advice from him, which led me to this path in life.

Is there an artist or person who has inspired you most?

I draw inspiration from tech house pioneers like Malaa, Dom Dolla, and Mau P, incorporating deep, driving rhythms and sophisticated production techniques.

What’s your favorite piece of music production gear or software?

My favorite software is Ableton Live 12. I love using MIDI. Splitting a note in two, or chopping it into several parts. Selecting a set of notes and joining them together. Especially the Note Utilities panel, such as Fit Scale, Humanize, Add Intervals, and more. Using Live’s Mixer in Arrangement View to get more information and control without moving to Session View and breaking the flow. Toggling the visibility of each Mixer section to fit my needs.

What’s your favorite part of the music production process?

My favorite part of the music production process is sound design and experimentation. This stage is where creativity truly takes flight, and I get to explore new sonic landscapes and textures that give my tracks their unique character.

Any projects we should know about?

I’m thrilled to announce that I have three new songs coming out soon! Stay tuned for the release dates and more info.
