Frankie Tedesco, a talented producer from Genoa, Italy, uses music to express his artistic freedom. Whether he’s crafting dark tech house beats or soulful ballads, he describes his music as a window into his soul.
Read more about Tedesco in our exclusive interview below, where we delve into his diverse musical style and personal experiences that have shaped his sound. Plus, check out his latest track, “Queen of the Night,” now available on White Label.
I chose my artist name as a nod to my real name, which reflects my roots. For me, it’s not just a name, it’s a connection to my background and the stories that have shaped who I am as a person and artist. Each note I write, each sound, and each artistic choice carries a piece of myself, and I want my music to resonate with the spirit of my experiences through the people out there.
Over a decade ago, I made the decision to liberate myself as an artist. After years of working with labels and collaborating with other artists under various aliases, I realized that dealing with labels often meant adhering to strict market rules that dictated melodies, sounds, and styles. For me, that felt more like being part of an assembly line than truly creating art. I knew I needed to break free from those constraints and pursue a path that allowed for genuine self-expression.
So Frankie Tedesco felt like the perfect foundation for my restart. I chose to embrace freedom through art, and using my own name was the best way to make that happen.
Italy is my home, and I love it!
My music is a window into my soul. I know it may sound naive, but I create different genres, from tech house to soft music, depending on what I feel and what I need to communicate at that moment. If you listen to my songs like “Fallen Angels,” “Miracles,” and the latest “Queen of the Night,” it seems like they were made by three very different people. The first is a tech house song, very energetic but also dark and cyberpunk. The latter is an energetic, positive, and vibing disco track from the ’70s with a modern pop style. “Miracles” is a soft song that talks about life and faith.
That’s funny because when I started listening to music, I liked rock and was not really into electronic music. But then a friend gave me a tape of Gigi D’Agostino, and I fell in love with his sound. I discovered a whole new world and opened my ears to new sounds and vibes, even though they were electronic. I started going to clubs, feeling the vibe, and loving it more and more.
As I listened to more of that kind of music, including works by other artists, my curiosity grew. At that time, I was studying electronics, which made me eager to understand how these “fake” sounds were created. This curiosity led me to experiment with audio, synths, and samples.
We’re talking about 1998, before social media and platforms like YouTube, where you can now find every kind of tutorial. Back then, you had to figure everything out on your own and connect with people through forums and chats.
After a few years of learning and improving, I caught the attention of other artists and labels, and I even had the chance to work for Gigi D’Agostino on different songs an experience that felt like a dream come true.
In the beginning, it was Gigi D’Agostino, Eiffel 65, and their crew. Later I started listening to all kinds of music – pop, rap, dance, rock, metal, classical, jazz, and anything that makes me vibe. If I had to name a few influences from the start of my career, it’s easy to mention those artists, but beyond that, I find myself more inspired by songs than by individual musicians. I take the vibes I like and make them my own, creating what I feel and vibe with.
Probably my DAW, Reaper. I switched to that one a couple of years ago, because I needed something more powerful. So I tried lots of different DAWs and I felt Reaper to be the most versatile for my workflow.
It’s the moment when you figure out the main sounds and melodies, so you start the arrangement, complementing each sound, adding effects, and throwing ideas. It’s all about creativity. That moment is pure addiction. It’s like seeing through God’s eyes and feeling the whole universe. You lose track of time and forget about basic needs like eating or drinking. It’s just you and the music.
I also enjoy the mixing and mastering process. I learned those skills in studios from audio engineers, and my studies have helped me a lot to gain a better understanding. I decided to offer those services to other artists who often create great music but struggle to make it sound as good as it should through my website.
I recently released my new song “Queen of the Night.” It was a challenging song to create because I had a clear vision in my mind, and I wanted to bring it to life just that way. I faced a lot of struggles to ensure everything turned out as it was meant to be.
From the initial idea to the moment I called the song done, it took a whole year. But now I’m very happy with it. It’s definitely one of my favorites. Everything feels exactly as it should, and I believe all that hard work and effort was well spent. I hope people will enjoy it as I do!
I’m also working on other tracks for 2025 and experimenting a lot with new sounds and techniques. If you’re curious, catch me here: https://linktr.ee/frankietedesco.
