The results are in and this year’s number one spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 list goes to Martin Garrix. This is his second consecutive year in the number one spot after he became the youngest ever to snag the coveted role last year.
The somewhat controversial DJ Mag Top 100 poll is often described as the definitive guide to the world’s most popular DJs. According to the magazine, there were over a million legitimate votes cast for the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll this year, with the standings seeing 15 new entries, seven re-entries and five non-movers.
Garrix has seen massive success since his 2013 release of ‘Animals‘. He accepted the number one spot trophy at the Top 100 DJs Poll award ceremony this past weekend at the Amsterdam Music Festival at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).
For the second straight year, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike came in at number two, followed by Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell and Tiesto. Some notable changes to this year’s results include the Chainsmokers up 12 positions to number six, Marshmello up 18 positions to number 10, and Eric Prydz up 32 spots to number 34. Exciting first time entries for 2017 include Solomun at number 81 and Alison Wonderland at number 89.
The DJ Mag Poll has been a long debated topic, some believing it’s purely a popularity contest or a rigged advertising game. No matter what you believe, it’s still interesting to see the results, especially compared to a decade ago.
