Share

From the bustling streets of São Paulo to the vibrant scene of Los Angeles, Angel B has carved out a unique path in the music industry. With a blend of pop, hip hop, R&B, and Brazilian rhythms, her sound reflects her diverse influences. Get a glimpse of what’s next for this rising star in our interview below and check out her EP “R.I.O.T.” on BPM Supreme’s White Label.

Where do you call home?

São Paulo, Brazil will always be my home, even though I have been living in Los Angeles for the past 12 years, which is now my home too.

How did you get your artist name and what is the significance?

I came up with ‘Angel’ when I was a teenager when I was preparing myself to do what I do today. I don’t know why but I liked that name in English so I ran with it. Later on, before I released my first solo single, I needed to add something else to be able to trademark since a record label with the name ‘Angel Records’ already existed. So I added the letter ‘B’ to represent the country I’m from, BRAZIL!

How do you describe your musical style?

For me, it’s hard to put my music in one box because I think it represents all the different sides of me. It is a mixture of pop music, with hip hop, where most of my dance inspirations come from. (I’m a professional hip hop dancer as well.) R&B represents my soft side, hopeless romantic, and Brazilian drums and Latin vibes represent my roots.

What first inspired you to get into music?

I grew up watching MTV because of my dad who loves music. At the house, we were always listening to music and dancing, which is a natural thing for Brazilians. It all came together.

Is there an artist or person who has inspired you most?

When I was a teenager, yes. I was fascinated with Aaliyah and Britney Spears. I wanted to be them so bad (laughs), but so many artists inspired me, like Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Usher. Nowadays I’m inspired by all the greatest artists we have access to, I don’t think I could pick just one!

What’s your favorite piece of music production gear or software?

I’m a Pro Tools person when it comes to recording. Logic or Ableton for production, and Serato for DJing!

What’s your favorite part of the music production process?

Starting a beat from scratch with the producer and giving my insights on how it should sound. For instance, if I’ll be able to dance, what are the visuals, etc. That’s what I’m thinking when we create a track. Then of course the songwriting part of it.

Any projects we should know about?

I just dropped my EP “R.I.O.T.” and the tracks are on BPM Supreme, so all my fellow DJs, please download it and let’s make people move on the dance floor!
