Our newest sound pack, “Future Hip Hop,” includes Vital presets that blend futuristic electronic and modern hip hop into one seamless vibe. Create a variety of tracks from chill electronic lo-fi to hard-hitting hip hop with this versatile preset pack.
Here are three tips to help you get the most out of these Vital presets.
Keytracked filters.
In Vital, apply keytracking to a synth’s filter to increase the dynamics and responsiveness of a sound. With keytracking enabled, the filter cutoff amount corresponds to the pitch of the note played. The higher the pitch of a note, the more the filter will open up, creating a brighter sound, while lower-pitched notes will close the filter and create a darker sound with less high-end.

Fast pitch envelopes for punchy 808s.
For 808 presets, map a fast pitch envelope shape (fast attack, fast decay, no sustain) to your main oscillator’s pitch parameter to create a punchy, percussive attack that cuts through a mix. Adjust the depth of modulation so that the effect is not too overbearing, but is perfectly balanced with the sustained part of the 808 bass.
Low pass spectral morphing mode.
Sculpt your sounds in a unique way by using the low pass spectral morphing mode found within each oscillator in Vital. These spectral morphing modes give you the option to change the sound of a wavetable before it goes to the main filters. The advantage of this is that you can manipulate a wavetable directly to take out high frequencies, resulting in a smoother and more natural-sounding low-passed sound while retaining the intricacies of the wavetable. A warmer, richer, and less shrill sound can be achieved to any oscillator or synth preset by using this spectral morphing mode.
For more creative possibilities, try assigning an envelope or LFO to the spectral morphing knob on any mode to create some interesting movement and wavetable morphing.
